Episode 66 is here and this week the podcast finally made it onto SPOTIFY!!!!

This week I was thrilled to speak to newly certified Lifestyle Medicine Practitioners Dr Bandana Chawla and her husband Dr Munish Chawla.

Dr. Bandana N Chawla is a board certified physician in Internal Medicine and Lifestyle Medicine. She graduated from UT Southwestern Medical School and completed her residency at Texas Medical Center.  She has been practicing primary care physician in Houston for nearly 20 years. In fall of 2012, she was exposed to plant based diet by her patients and by February of 2013, she became vegan. Over the years, Dr. Chawla has witnessed tremendous improvements in the health of her patients as they transitioned to a plant based diet. Dr. Chawla became a member of Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine (PCRM) in 2014 and a member of American College of Lifestyle Medicine (ACLM) in 2017. In 2018, Dr. Chawla became a diplomate of American College of Lifestyle Medicine. She is passionate about evidence based Lifestyle Medicine and promotes holistic health with plant based nutrition, exercise, and mindfulness to her patients, colleagues and local/online community.

Dr. Munish Chawla is a board certified physician in Lifestyle Medicine and Diagnostic Radiology practicing in the Houston area for over 20 years. A long time practitioner of yoga and meditation, he adopted a plant based lifestyle in 2013. He is the founder of Health and Wellness club at his workplace. Through weekly meditation classes and monthly plant-based potlucks at his hospital, he shares his passion for plant based lifestyle and mindfulness. Dr. Chawla became a member of PCRM(Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine) in 2016 and ACLM(American College of Lifestyle Medicine) in 2018. ACLM, through evidenced based research,  is committed to eradicating chronic diseases through nutrition, mindfulness and other lifestyle interventions. He became a diplomate of American college of Lifestyle medicine in October 2018. He enthusiastically shares the core values of lifestyle medicine and promotes them to his friends, coworkers and local/online community.

These two incredible people are currently working on their 5M Program where they will be supporting young people to focus on 5 areas of mindfulness to improve their overall health and well-being these 5 areas include:

  1. Mindful Breathing

  2. Mindful Movement

  3. Mindful Stillness

  4. Mindful Eating

  5. Mindful Reflection

I’m looking forward to hearing more about this program in 2019!
