Episode 20 is here and this episode was a pretty massive milestone for me, interviewing one of the pioneers of this movement, the incredible Dr Caldwell Esselstyn.
If you don't know Dr Esselstyn's work, he is an American physician who spent much of his career practicing out of the renowned Cleveland Clinic and was featured in the Netflix documentary Forks Over Knives.
Dr Esselstyn's research into Heart Disease and his bestselling book Prevent And Reverse Heart Disease has helped transform the lives of many living with this disease including former U.S President Bill Clinton.
A more unknown fact is that Dr Esselstyn won a Gold medal in the 1956 Melbourne Olympics in the mens eight rowing event.
During this interview I couldn't help but get a little emotional speaking with someone of whom I hold in such high regards for pioneers such as Dr Esselstyn are the reason the low fat, whole food, plant based movement has grown to the extent it has and has been able to reach and help so many people like myself to overcome debilitating, and often terrifying chronic diseases.
In this episode Dr Esselstyn talks with me about the topic he knows best, how to Prevent and Reverse Heart Disease and he did not leave us hanging. If you or someone you know and love is living with Heart Disease or if it runs in your family, THIS is the episode you need to listen to.
Currently Heart Disease is the World's Number 1 killer, with Cardio Vascular Disease (CVD) effecting over 3.7 million Australians, killing 45,600 in 2011 alone.
In this interview Caldwell again discusses the reasoning behind his recommendation for NO OIL when trying to prevent and reverse heart disease (not even 'healthy' oils such as Olive and Coconut oils), along with many more recommendations from within his book regarding the optimal diet for preventing and reversing Heart Disease.
