Hello and Welcome back to Episode 72!
Holiday Season is well and truly upon us!
I don’t know about you but I can feel something NEW and EXCITING in the air!
More than 190,000 people signed up for Veganuary this month with one person signing up every 3.5 seconds!
Now I know a low fat, whole food, plant-based diet can be vastly different from a standard vegan diet, and many people consuming a low fat, whole food, plant-based diet might not be vegan at all (yet! ;-) ), but this is still a huge step forward for human health, for the animals and for the future of this planet and it gets me really, really excited!
I think one of my personal favourite things about knowing their are 190,000 NEW Vegans out there is that, life is getting a whole lot less lonely and isolating for vegans everywhere. Every year since 2014, participation in Veganuary has more than doubled, which means in 2020 there will be around 400,000 people starting their years choosing compassion, kindness and love for all beings on earth.
2021 there will be 800,000
2022 - 1.6 million
2023 - 3.2 million
I mean, seriously, a Vegan World is looking set to be a very real possibility as more and more people become educated about the damaging effects of animal based ‘foods’ on human health, the terrible suffering experienced by animals within the livestock industry and the catastrophic impact animal agriculture is having on our oceans, forests, waterways, species extinction and greenhouse gas emissions.
Once we KNOW better, we have an obligation to DO better.
Almost daily I hear from people who have listened to the podcast and who have been inspired to begin their own whole food, plant-based journey as a result of the listening to the incredible stories that have been shared by the brave guests who have come on this show. Hearing from people who have been inspired and whose lives are being changed for the better, makes every challenging moment of creating this podcast so worthwhile. I know that 2019 is going to be the year more people than ever begin taking control of their health and lives once and for all. :-)
Speaking of people taking control of their lives once and for all, Tim Brown is this weeks guest on the podcast and wow, his story and before and after photos bought tears to my eyes.
Tim has come through so much in his short life and in this episode he bravely shares his story with us. Tim was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in 2009 after his hands and legs began to seize up.
Over the course of 7 years, Tim’s health worsened and he was reliant on medications to manage his MS, by 2016 Tim reached his own personal, breaking point. What Tim has accomplished since that time is truly incredible, he is almost unrecogniseable in his before and after photos. Tim’s story is raw and real as he delves into some of the very darkest parts of living with a chronic disease such as MS.
Thank you so much Tim for sharing your story and thank you all so much for listening, sharing, commenting, tagging and supporting this podcast. Your support means more people like Tim, can find hope and the courage to educate themselves and hopefully, adopt a low fat, whole food, plant-based diet for themselves and watch their health begin to transform from the inside out.
